A Woman’s Work. ”The only bit of housework I enjoy is sweeping, especially sweeping up pink glitter. I feel like some ideal of womanhood.” Artist Lisa Swerling’s Glass Cathedrals are a series of artboxes containing brilliant tiny worlds, each making its own small statement on our complicated lives. See more amazing artboxes here. Particularly like her “Wallflower” box – wallflower background, then loads of chairs, all empty except for one. Art Inspiration for me.

DIY Doll Furniture Jewelry Tree. From one of my favorite sites: dismount creative here. Urban Outfitters has a similar one for $68, but the chairs used in this tree were only $2 a piece. Love using miniatures in jewelry or wherever. People always wonder where you got your supplies… the dollhouse aisle, that’s where!
DIY Book Necklace made from Dollhouse Books from Following His Light here (upper left). Chic Steals also pictured a book necklace here (center) for DIY inspiration -$375 from Etsy here. Go to Amazon.com for 12 books/$2.25 here or for 12 books/$3.99 here. Get some jump rings, glue/cement, chain etc… and put it all together for a different look. The necklace by Following His Light was a knockoff of Library Stacks by Anthologie that I posted here.
Lesson of the story: use dollhouse miniatures as charms because they are so much cheaper than anything else!
Etsy Tiny Green Tree and People in a Tiny Bottle. Japanese artist, Akinobu, creates these amazingly detailed tiny worlds in little bottles. Sold by tinyworldinabottle at his etsy store here.
DIY Knockoff Library Stack Necklace from Anthropologie (Original on right, was $168 but not available anymore). Knockoff pictured on the left (which I actually like better). My other love besides keys is miniatures. This necklace is made with dollhouse miniature books from the craft store (Michaels – use 40% off coupon!). Really detailed easy tutorial with lots of clear photos and instructions at The Scene of the Grime. Tutorial here.
